To Lake Creek Campground near Hillside

One final group photo before Mike heads off to work, Nicole goes to her art studio (our former guest space), and we begin our drive southward.

It was 163 miles to get back to the point on the Adventure Cycling route where we left off on 2 August - Monarch Lodge on Hwy 50, about 12 miles west of Poncha Springs.  It was a fast downhill run for me for the next 1 1/2 hours - pretty thrilling. 

I followed the Arkansas River toward Howard:

Dick got some downhill also, but once he left Cotopaxi, it was a steep climb on county roads to Hillside.

Almost 3 miles on a dirt road to get to Lake Creek Campgound.  Even though it was Friday, always a factor when traveling the way we do, we almost had the place to ourselves.

We are on the road again, it feels good.
