Mom: two steps forward, one step back

We were sure Mom would be discharged today, she'd been making slow but steady progress for four days. But today, she had an active nosebleed all day and her hemoglobin (red blood cell count) was down. Today the doctor summarized the past 3 weeks as: the hip surgery led to the urinary tract infection, treating that infection lead to the CDif (sp?) colitis; the medication given after the surgery to thin the blood to avoid blood clots has now led to low hemoglobin and a nosebleed that doesn't want to stop. All your prayers are greatly appreciated.

  1. I am so sorry. I wish there was something more than being sorry that I could do.
