To Pelican Rapids, Minnesota

"Would you like a cup of coffee?" someone said to Dick. It was Joe from across the road. He and his wife Jerri are traveling back to their home in Carol Stream IL in their 5th wheel. Joe is a bike rider and has done some touring. And, if we're ever in Carol Stream, we're invited to stay with them. Another example of unexpected kindness.

Welcome to Minnesota!! It was just across the Red River of the North. Our goal was Cormorant, but a road cut-out and detour took us closer to Pelican Rapids, so we road a few extra miles today. The relatively flat riding is gone, now it's rolling terrain. We see a lot of cornfields and, in this picture, soybeans. We camped at Sherri Park, the Pelican River is fairly high so we chose higher ground to pitch our tent.

The largest pelican in the world at 15 1/2 feet, nicknamed Pete, stands near the town center. The water is high if Pete's feet are wet.

A suspension foot bridge connects parks on either side of the river.

Miles completed = 2148
