To Petoskey

I made my way to Cross Village where people said a must-see was Legs Inn. Unfortunately it was still closed when I got there, but people were lining up to get in for lunch. It was built by a Polish immigrant with the help of Odawa Indians and local residents and used local wood and stone in its natural form to create a unique art experience. For example, stove legs adorn the edge of the roof, which is how the inn got its name.I went off route and rode SR119 known as the Tunnel of Trees route and it was a shaded cool enclosure for 15 of the 20 miles as it wound along the bluffs of Lake Michigan.

In Good Hart, a very small village was a great little store/bakery that sold delicious pieces of apple and peach pie.

In the distance, a sailboat on Lake Michigan. Dick stayed on the AC route and missed all this good stuff.

Tonight we camped at Magnus Park in dowtown Petoskey on the shore of Lake Michigan.

Miles completed = 3014

  1. I hope someone told you about, and you had time to look for some Petoskey stones along the shore of Lake Michigan. They have special marking and are generally found only in that area.

  2. Long ago, a co-worker originally from Traverse City, gave me Petoskey stone earrings as a gift. They are some of my favorites and so unique.
